Would you recommend this program to others? And, if so, what would you tell them about it?
"Absolutely! I would offer that without self- compassion one cannot sustain compassion for others for very long. Learning to be kinder to oneself is an invaluable tool and needs to be cultivated daily. This course is a good way to start."
"I have recommended this program to other people. I told people that Sara is extremely passionate about this topic and a naturally compassionate person. I told people that I thought self compassion is incredibly important."
"Yes. I would say that it seems to be a common human experience to be more critical and judgmental of ourselves than we are of other people. This course helps to learn why that may not be the best stance to take, and how to make changes. The suggested changes, when applied, result in a more loving relationship with oneself, which is quite a relief."
"Yes. I would say that MSC is an excellent program to gain more experiential tool for self and for clients. I would say that these exercises are excellent for every day mindful living and that everyone can use these tools. I would also speak to the idea of self compassion being the core of much of our healing and spiritual growth, and that these concepts and ideas are fundamental life tools for a healthy and compassionate way to relate to ourselves, others, and the world. I would say that doing this in a class format is a great way to take this class because you can learn from others and practice with others."
"Yes! It is a wonderful gift for yourself as well as others."
"Excellent facilitator, well researched and presented materials, lots of opportunity and encouragement to practice and then to deepen that practice with support and encouragement from the group."
"Yes, it introduces through practice a number of approaches for aiding self and clients in treating ourselves compassionately and increasing our ability to care for ourselves through the challenges of daily life."
"I would recommend this training to peers with the explanation that they would learn an invaluable set of skills to use both professionally and personally. I would tell clients that this would be an opportunity to begin developing a new relationship with themselves, in a positive direction."
"Absolutely. It shifted my framework for understanding myself and my emotional experience as well as for understanding the identities and experiences of my clients. I have thought about self compassion and used informal self compassion practices every day since my first day of the course."
What would you consider the best aspect of this program overall?
"I found the practical exercises very helpful - both for myself and for working with clients."
"Sara is a very patient and kind teacher and demonstrated self compassion throughout the course through her actions and her passion."
"If I had to choose one thing, I guess it would be really getting to focus my attention on being kind to myself, and having this supported by other clinicians. I believe the meeting of like minded people is the greatest plus to the course. We were all seeking a similar avenue to changing and healing. As Healers ourselves we sometimes forget to be compassionate towards ourselves and I believe it was a good reminder to focus on this. Without the capacity to be kind to oneself, I believe it is difficult to sustain compassion for others for any length of time."
"The guided exercises were outstanding!"
"Nothing felt "too hard" to do or to learn. Everything that was suggested or offered was available and within my reach."
"The way the content is presented. Mix of theory, experiential exercises, poems, homework, retreat, discussion. Full spectrum of ways of learning to offer to attendees of the class. And, I believe deeply in the content and philosophy for helping people to heal and grow. So, anything working with helping others to develop more self compassion will get a thumbs up from me."
"The real-world applicable nature of the material. The compassionate presentation."
"The practical practice, especially the retreat."
