Join Our Next Intern Therapist Cohort!

No longer accepting applications for Fall 2024

We welcome a new cohort of graduate level intern therapists every year here at Seattle EMDR Associates.

Are you passionate about providing evidence-based trauma therapy? Are you interested in becoming a beginning counselor who uses EMDR as your primary modality? Curious to learn what it feels like to work at a small, collaborative group practice? Seattle EMDR Associates could be an amazing internship experience for you!

At Seattle EMDR Associates (SEA), we seek to provide clients with skillful and compassionate care and therapists with a supportive and empowering workplace.

Our group practice will show you what it feels like to work in a small community of therapists who want to prioritize doing the therapy work we are passionate about, without the large caseloads of community mental health, or the business responsibilities of running a private practice.

Our intern therapists are students who are passionate about using EMDR as a primary treatment modality. The right addition to our team will be growth minded, independent, conscientious, social justice driven, and will welcome ongoing professional development and collaboration.

Internship Requirements:

  • Completed Bachelor's degree in any field.

  • Currently enrolled in a CACREP- or COAMFTE-accredited masters program.

  • Available to build up to 10-12 hours of clinical work per week.

  • Available to attend staff meetings every Wednesday from 12:05 pm-1:50 pm.

  • Commitment to learning EMDR procedures through an EMDRIA approved training before the start of the internship.

  • Excited to utilize EMDR as a primary modality.

  • Not pursuing other internship placements, except with prior approval by the director.

Other Qualification Preferences:

Previous experience working or volunteering as part of an organization or program that serves people impacted by trauma.

Hours:

We provide scheduling flexibility when possible, understanding that balancing graduate coursework, internship, and sometimes part-time work is inherently challenging. When your caseload is full, you will be available to hold 10-15 client sessions per week, as well as between 3-6 hours of administrative time for notes, supervision, consults, etc. Our weekly 2 hour staff meeting each Wednesday is an additional commitment and consultation resource.

Compensation:

Our internship is associated with a monthly monetary stipend to support intern therapists in their learning journey. We believe that we are most equipped to support our clients when we are empowered and situated to support ourselves.

Our group practice environment requires independence but provides support.

At Seattle EMDR Associates this support looks like:

Full office support including in-house billing, intake scheduling, and an excellent insurance specialist

HIPAA compliant EHR, phone line, email and fax

A steady stream of referrals from our significant waitlist for low-cost sliding scale counseling services

Marketing on SEA’s website, Facebook page, and other online directories

The ability to manage your own schedule and work collaboratively with other intern therapists and staff therapists

Intern therapist cohort models facilitates a supportive learning community of new therapists

Weekly staff meetings that include case consultation

Ongoing clinical consultation with an EMDR consultant (counts toward EMDRIA Certification)

Excellent weekly supervision that meets your program requirements
